Whether you take care of yourself or not should not make any difference. If you do not file claims and cost the plan money you should get a discount or a rebate. You are comparing group health to individual auto. Group health covers a group and if your in that group your costs are controlled by that group. Individual auto covers an individual and your costs are controlled by your driving record.
Let's look at family auto insurance. If you have children of driving age and they have bad driving records and you don't specifically exclude them from driving your car in your policy your rates go up regardless of you record.
I guess for you to do this with group health you have to make your company exclude anyone you feel is not living a healthy lifestyle. Or you could just shoot them.

When you are buying auto insurance your not buying group insurance your buying it for you, so yes your lack of claims will give you a discount.
Like I said to jumper, go out any price individual health insurance and it will be out of sight.
To compare like to like, you would have to own a fleet of cars and have a number of different drivers with various driving records.

I thnk you guys are missing Gae's point here. Because it's a "group" policy, your rates are cheaper. GL since you did not visit the doctor in 5 years, you did keep the rates down, not just for you, but in essence for everyone.
Now let's say, If you would of put that $2500 in a savings account and next year discover you have melanoma....that $2500 isn't going to pay for squat.
A few random thoughts.
Jumper, you say, why should you pay for someone's pregnancy? That person can look at you and say why should we pay for your Orthopedic appointments because you choose to run marathons?
I think it is hard to pinpoint what is going to be our medical needs and who is at higher risk. Unless we all choose to live in plastic bubble, we are all potential risks at something. Smoking, drinking, sunbathing, sports activities, genetic problems, what we eat and how much, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.....the list goes on.
